Leading International SIM Card Provider, Japan

A full-scale business within 14 days

Client Intro

Our client is one of Japan’s newest providers of international SIM cards to Japanese travellers. Their business model is based on simplicity of use and low prices coupled with as close as possible to 100% connectivity, wherever in the world their customers were.

The Client’s Problem

This was an unusual request, in that all the elements of the business were in place – apart from the connectivity solution – and when we were approached, the launch was 14 days away. Their market was Japanese travellers who wanted to avoid extortionate roaming charges from their home networks and purchase their data bundles before they went overseas.

The client wanted a provision for his customers to buy the SIM and initial data bundle online with the ability to top-up the SIM with additional data on a bespoke portal before or during their trip. He also insisted that the portal was in the Japanese language and his customers be billed in Yen using both international and Japanese credit cards.

All in 14 days.

The Ritesim Solution

We created a bespoke solution that covered every element of what they required. In addition, the portal provided to top-up the SIMs online was branded in line with the client’s very precise requirements. We used the Cisco-Jasper API linked to a payment portal so when the end-user paid for top-ups in Yen, it immediately registered on their SIM card and they were sent an email confirmation, written in Japanese.

All in 14 days.

Results

The Ritesim solution has now been in place for over five years and thanks to our technical architecture, customer service and quality of product, we have helped to build a highly successful international communications business.
